We stayed here over Christmas. It was a good location for visiting family and they are nice rooms. There’s a few things that could really make this better though, and not major changes. Firstly the double mattress in the Barn Room has seen better days so a swap out there would really help - it was uncomfortable and my wife chose to sleep on the cot bed instead. Secondly the shower did tend to go a bit hot and cold for the second person using it - which wasn’t awful but just a bit frustrating. Finally - no fridge. We were there for three days and it’s a self contained room not a hotel. There was very generous tea and coffee and biscuits provided but nowhere for is to store anything cold. I am dairy free so the UHT milk provided wasn’t ok for me and my son wanted something soft to drink. A small fridge to put cold drinks in isn’t just a nice to have - I’d say it’s important for a set up like this. Having said all that - that’s hopefully just constructive criticism. These are nice rooms in a good spot for the local area and I would recommend them - especially with a few tweaks.

My mum and sister have just stayed here for the weekend the first room was not to their expection because of size so they spoke to nick who changed there room he was exceptional with his customer service nothing was too much trouble the housekeeper carman was great helped my mum carry her cases rooms were spotless and clean and it was a enjoyable time the hot tub was great and the local pub food was excellent highly recommended thanks NICK you were great x

We stayed for one night in the Wood Store and it was a lovely evening. Very private hot tub and lovely location. The room was clean and comfortable. My only negative is that the door out to the hot tub area couldn't be opened fully due to a wardrobe/cupboard position and being of a slightly larger frame it was a bit of a squeeze to get out. Other than that, it was splendid.

Nice place, been before, clean which is the main thing for me.Door to my room was broken so hard to open. Can not rate service as we didn't have any. U get your key from a lock and go to your shed. Would loved to have looked round the mill, but it was just for the owners. It looks lovely. Enjoyed our stay.

Great little get away, The staff here are great and always happy to help in any way they can. Nice and quiet location and a relaxing stay. Clean rooms and clean grounds, highly recommend.

Excellent accommodation... Cant fault it... Everything you need and more, pub just a minute's walk away, and only a few minutes into town .... We will definitely stay again

Wonderful stay in the Toot Suite at The Old Mill at the weekend and would highly recommend. The rooms were immaculate and the alcohol and chocolates upon arrival was a lively touch. Fantastic location a short 5 minute walk to the impressive Fox Covert pub which provide very impressive food. The hot tub on site was lovely and again nice and clean. We'll certainly be returning!

Nice place to stay. Not much here though. Had to taxi into Yarm for food. The room was quiet & comfortable. Would have had more stars it the sink held its water & the wi fi worked. The latter essential as there is no mobile phone signal either.

Had an amazing weekend retreat here. The hosts Zoe and Andy were fantastic as well as their friend Amanda , the ladies joining in our exercise classes and all of them socialising with us and their staff were so caring and friendly, a great place to stay for a getaway with amenities close at hand if you want otherwise enjoy the tranquility and scenery. Great host for the retreat was Michael Simpson.

Booked this for two on a weekend and they read my mind that it was actually for a couple and decorated the room with flowers :) my girlfriend loved it! Will definitely book again!

Don't book with OYO - was problematic from start to finish. No confirmation of booking despite them taking my money up front. I had to contact hotel direct for confirmation. Hotel was quirky, and despite me checking with them they resold the room I had booked for the second night. They did offer to accommodate us elsewhere but at this point having spent the previous night being woken by the public toilet next door used by the Camper Van guests - we decided enough was enough and left. My worst booking and hotel experience ever (too long to go into more detail) especially for the price paid £340 for 2 nights. Would have felt more welcome and secure at a Travelodge.Decided against communicating with OYO for refund having read all the negative reviews of people trying to do the same thing. Would recommend avoiding both of these companies. Especially after receiving an unwelcome and passive aggressive phone call from the Hotel representative where I felt she attempted to brow beat me and blame OYO for all of this despite the Hotel confirming both nights booked. As we know folks life is too short and one lives and learns.

Good location although difficult to get a taxi on a Saturday night. Room compact along with shower, no toiletries in bathroom.

The room was lovely clean and of a high standard . The location was difficult to find initially as it was down a small lane beside a pub , two postcodes displayed on Google 1 worked the other did not but we got there after a 10 minute delay . Only criticism I would add is the barley store room had no window that could be opened to let air circulate only a door , obviously not feasible to leave tht open all night , would definitely stay at this location again but would choose a room with a window that could be opened .

We camped here, booking on PitchUp. We were essentially parked in their car park. We had access to a drinking water tap and a toilet with sink (e.g. no shower or washing up area), however we had access to their hot tub, which was amazing!

We had this place booked and yesterday got an email to say they have cancelled our booking tryed phoning them up and no answer they even took the money people should avoid this place because the customer service is rubbish still waiting for reply to why they cancelled are weekend away

Lovely place. The granary room was well presented and modern with a lovely hot tub outside. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. No food served however the pub down the road is 2 minutes away and serves really nice meals and breakfast. Would definetely stay again

Stayed in the wood store with my Finace for our valentines night away. The place looks amazing and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were beautifully decorated with rose petals, balloons and banners which was amazing and the wine, chocolates and beer was a lovely surprise. The private hot tub was our favourite thing, we spent ages relaxing in it under the stars! Pub at the end of the road was a fab recommendation of the hosts, food was amazing! We will definitely be coming back here for another child free, relaxing break. Thank you so much for making our valentines weekend one of the best!

A lovely nights stay for valentines, the room was decorated and wine, beer and chocolates were left for us which was a nice touch, the private hot tub was a minutes walk from the room, gowns were there to be used for this, there are rooms with the hot tubsright next to the room, which wd would prefer for next time. The ladies who checked us in were great and we met the owner on asking for extra towels for the hot tub who was very polite and friendly.only one downfall was we could hear the people in the next room really clearly, We'd definitely return for an overnight stay again.

My husband and I stayed here last night for his birthday. Staff were lovely and welcoming, the room was clean and spacious. We loved our private hot tub! Will definitely be visiting again. Ayesha

I booked a night at the Old Mill at the end of 2019 for May 2020. Around April, we were in lockdown, and I tried to contact to arrange a date change. Eventually, someone answered, and denied having anything to do with the Old Mill. I found a mobile number on another site, to reach them. I was told that the business was closed, and 'in the hands of my solicitor '. I was told that they had laid off 6 staff, and were now making PPE! Two weeks later, I received an email saying that I was not entitled to a refund , as I had cancelled my booking! I just came across there advert still trading, and that is why I have posted this review today. Covid has been hard on a lot of people, but this is not how a reputable business behaves.

Would absolutely recommend staying here. The whole stay was unbelievable. The room was immaculate and the hot tub was clean and luxurious. This place is a real hidden gem. Thank you for a wonderful stay x
